Osama Bin Laden calls for renewed action against the USA because of global warming
CAIRO – Osama bin Laden sought to draw a wider public into his fight against the United States in a new message Friday, dropping his usual talk of religion and holy war and focusing instead on an unexpected topic: global warming.
The al-Qaida leader blamed the United States and other industrialized nations for climate change and said the only way to prevent disaster was to break the American economy, calling on the world to boycott U.S. goods and stop using the dollar.
So, I think I will burn some stuff this weekend to increase my carbon footprint.

Terrorist Tried to blow Up Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit – The authorities are saying that this was a a fairly sophisticated device. It is a good thing that the idiot set himself on fire rather than blowing up the plane. Passengers and the cabin crew subdued and confined him until the plane landed. He claims to have obtained the device and instructions on how to use it in Yemen.
It is a good thing that terrorists are not as intelligent and creative as my friends. If they did, we would have already experienced other attacks. But, maybe their leadership has realized that such attacks would not be good for them. Another successful attack in the USA, at the minimum, would result in the current administration either toughening its stance toward them or losing power.

1. I heard something on the radio that I think would be a good thing to add to the government healthcare bill. In order to keep your government coverage, you would be required to have an annual physical as part of a preventative healthcare regimen. This would hopefully keep the costs down by catching problems early.
2. You can’t finance a car if your name is on the terrorist watch list. The summary of the story is, a man who is working at a famous medical school and has an 815 credit score can not borrow any money in this country because his name is similar to one on the terrorist watch list. Once again, people are being punished without the due process of law. The terrorist watch list is wrong and needs to be abolished.

They now want to take away more of the rights of those on the “terrorist watch list.” (CNN)
When people on the government’s terrorist watch list have tried to buy guns or explosives in recent years, the government has let them the vast majority of the time.
That’s the finding of a new report by the Government Accountability Office, sent to lawmakers last month and released publicly Monday.
—————————————————————————————————–
The GAO provided the report in response to a request from Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-New Jersey. The GAO said Lautenberg had requested an update to a 2005 report.
In a statement Monday, Lautenberg said, “this new report is proof positive that known and suspected terrorists are exploiting a major loophole in our law, threatening our families and our communities. This ‘terror gap’ has been open too long, and our national security demands that we shut it down.”
The statement said Lautenberg is introducing legislation that would give the U.S. attorney general “authority to stop the sale of guns or explosives to terrorists.”
There is a huge problem with this, nobody on the terrorist watch list has been found guilty of anything. At one time, Senator Edward Kennedy was on the list. The list just has names. And, if your name is similar to someone’s name on the list, you are hit with the same restrictions (this has happened to two-year-old). If we allow the government to arbitrarily restrict this Constitutionally protected right, what is to stop them from restricting others? What is to prevent them from putting all of the current (or future) administrations’ opponents, on this list? What will prevent them from adding you, your friends, and/or your family to this list? This very list is the problem. Unless it is modified such that being put on the list is the result of a court action, where the accused is allowed to defend him/herself, the terrorist watch list needs to go away.

Sebastian D’Souza took the following picture on November 26, 2008 in Mumbai, India.

There were armed policemen hiding all around the station but none of them did anything,” he said. “At one point, I ran up to them and told them to use their weapons. I said, ‘Shoot them, they’re sitting ducks!’ but they just didn’t shoot back.”
Mr D’Souza added: “I told some policemen the gunmen had moved towards the rear of the station but they refused to follow them. What is the point if having policemen with guns if they refuse to use them? I only wish I had a gun rather than a camera.
Could Mr. D’Souza have made a difference? Maybe. Who knows what one or more armed citizens willing to stand up up to these murderous thugs could have done. How many people’s lives could have been saved with just one dead terrorist?
This is one of the reasons I choose to be armed. If I should find myself in such a terrorist event, I might be able to save the lives of myself and others. I have chosen that I will not willingly be a victim of violence (random or otherwise).

What Do You Call A Terrorist?
First, to call a terrorist a “jihadist” or “jihadi” effectively puts any campaign against terrorism into the framework of an existential battle between the West and Islam. This feeds into the worldview propagated by Al Qaeda. It also serves to isolate the tens of millions of Muslims who condemn the violence that has been perpetrated in the name of Islam.
Second, these words locate the ideological battle exactly where the extremists want it to be. The terms of discussion are no longer about the murder of innocents in terrorist acts; they are about theology.
Third, when American leaders use this language it sends a confusing message to the Muslim world, showing ignorance on basic issues and possibly even raising doubts about American motives. Why, after all, would we call our enemy a “holy warrior”?
If we want to say what we mean, what terms better describe Qaeda members and other violent extremists? “Muharib” or the more colloquial “hirabi” or “hirabist” would be good places to start. “Hirabah,” the base word, is a term for barbarism or piracy. Unlike “jihad,” which grants honor, “hirabah” brings condemnation; it involves unlawful violence and disorder.
We need to keep this fact in mind. We do no good for our cause when we call a terrorist a jihadist.

Last week I posted a link to a picture by Michael Yon. It was a picture of Iraqi Muslims and Christians restoring a cross to a church. There is an update. They held services yesterday. Many of the Muslim neighbors of the church attended the services. They want their Christian neighbors who have fled to come home. Here are some great quotes: read more »

Never Forget….
Never forget the towers that fell.
Never forget the soldiers who died at their desks.
Never forget the civilians who died in the planes.
Never forget the civilians who died in the towers.
Never forget the heroes who died trying to rescue the civilians in the towers.
Never forget the heroes who died while stopping murderers from using their plane as a weapon.
Never Forget!
Have you forgotten?!
